I thought I'd share some of my favorite recipes found throughout the glorious lands of The Horde. I'll start you off with a delicious dish by Innkeeper Boorand at the Crossroads Inn in The Barrens. While he's not a huge meat eater, he cooks up a tasty gnome. The name of this dish is "Plum Good Gnome Thighs". They have a delicious, sweet, sour and spicy flavor.
Ingredients
1 1/4 pound(s) skinless, boneless gnome thighs
1/2 teaspoon(s) Chinese five-spice powder
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
3 green onions
1 tablespoon(s) olive oil
1/2 cup(s) gnome broth
1/2 cup(s) plum jam
2 tablespoon(s) balsamic vinegar
12 ounces trimmed green beans
2 cups cooked rice
Directions
In bowl, toss thighs with five-spice powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt. From dark-green end of onions, finely chop enough to equal 2 tablespoons; reserve for garnish. Cut remainder of onions into 1-inch pieces; set aside.
In 12-inch skillet, heat oil on medium-high fire until hot. Add thighs and cook 10 minutes or until they're browned and lose their pink color throughout, turning once. Transfer thighs to plate; cover to keep warm.
In drippings in skillet, on a medium fire, cook 1-inch onion pieces 4 minutes or until lightly browned. Stir in broth, jam, and vinegar; heat to boiling. Reduce heat to medium and cook 3 to 4 minutes or until sauce is syrupy. Return thighs to skillet and turn to coat with sauce.
Meanwhile, prepare green beans ; serve with gnome and rice; sprinkle with reserved onions
This recipe serves 4 blood elves, 2 trolls, 1 orc and as many undead as can fit around the plate. While fresh gnome is absolutely delicious, chicken can be substituted.
Next week we'll look at a delicious recipe coming out of the Inn at Freewind Post...yummy!
